In 2007 Egg Harbor Township was
chosen as one of five communities in the state to be
part of a pilot program for water conservation in conjunction with
the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and
Rutgers University. |
In the summer of 2010 we are planted
a demonstration naturalized retention basin at Veteran's
Park in 2010. Students from Eagle Academy pitched
in. |

Right after the initial planting the
state was hit with a summer of record high temperatures
and little rain. Many of the shrubs succumbed to
the heat and were replanted in the fall. |
Once the basin has stabilized it will be
used for demonstration purposes for other retention
basins |
Veteran's Park was chosen because of its
easy accessibility and visibility to the community |
